Jamal Burey

NOAA Center for Coastal and Marine Ecosystems-II Scholar

Jamal Burey is a NOAA CCME-II Scholar studying Computer Science at Bethune-Cookman University in Daytona Beach, Florida. He joined NOAA CCME in 2020, where he contributed to projects surrounding Algae Blooms and data organization skills. He later returned to the program in 2022 as a senior which has allowed him to actively coordinate with NOAA professionals and expand his professional skills in a more practical setting. His passion for NOAA stems around robotic research, artificial intelligence and machine learning topics. Jamal is presently undertaking an internship at our Uncrewed Systems Research Transition Office (UxSRTO) in Silver Spring, Maryland for the summer of 2023. Throughout this internship, he is actively engaged in collaboration with personnel from UxS NOAA. Their collective focus involves meticulous coordination on a wide range of projects and research initiatives. Following his internship he plans to attend Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) in Tallahassee, FL pursuing a MS Degree in Computer Science.
