NOAA UAS Program Director Briefs at the British Embassy

Robbie Hood on a distinguished panel during the Autonomy & Innovation Across the Defence, Security and Civil Sectors Conference.

Robbie Hood, NOAA UAS Program Director, was on a distinguished panel during the Autonomy & Innovation Across the Defence, Security and Civil Sectors Conference at the British Embassy on June 29th.

The British Defence Staff US (BDSUS) S&T and Trade teams, British Embassy, Washington DC  in coordination with the U.S. DoD and multiple Embassy based UK government departments held a workshop and demonstration of  UK/U.S. innovative autonomous technologies (Drones, Counter-Drones and an Autonomous Vehicle) on 29-30 June 2017. The 29 June was the main event comprising a cross government, industry, academia workshop in the morning; a number of demonstration in the afternoon; followed by High Tea and speeches to finish the day. On the 30 June they convene three defence related government to government workshops focused on Autonomy Logistics, Counter Unmanned Aerial Systems (C-UAS) and Bio Inspired Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS). In parallel, on the 28 June they also hosted a STEM (Science, Technical, Engineering & Math) Education Outreach event. John “JC” Coffey represented the UAS Program during the STEM events.

The Conference Objectives were:

  • A. Sustain the Relationship – Showcase to the world the UK / U.S. commitment to innovation and collaboration.
  • B. Highlight UK Innovation –  Promote UK capability as S&T innovation leaders.
